Volunteer Tutoring

Helping a woman to learn English, advance her education, and meet her life goals is enormously fulfilling. Mercy Learning Center’s volunteer tutors make a meaningful difference in the lives of their students.

As a volunteer tutor at Mercy Learning Center, we will match you with one or more students.  You will work with your students to teach them English conversation skills, reading, writing, social studies and civics, science, math, or to prepare for the GED® exam.  What you teach depends on your areas of interest.

No teaching experience is required!  You will receive all the training and support you need at MLC from our staff. The commitment is only two, two-hour sessions per week.  All tutoring happens Monday through Friday between the hours of 8 a.m. and 5 p.m. in our building at 637 Park Ave. in Bridgeport.  Men and women of all backgrounds (age 18+), are welcome.

Consider tutoring at MLC if you:

  • Have four free hours a week.
  • Enjoy helping people to fulfill their potential.
  • Are ready for a rewarding volunteer experience!
