Mercy Learning Center's growth over the past 20 years has been accelerated by a diverse group of devoted volunteers. In fact, ultimately it is the passion of our volunteers that drives and enriches the Center's programs and participants.

Below is a list of current volunteer opportunities. Please call the Center at 203-334-6699 if you are interested or to learn more about volunteering at Mercy Learning Center.

Volunteers are needed!
Interested in volunteering at Mercy Learning Center? There are lots of ways to get involved in this wonderful mission to, "Educate a woman... Educate a family."

Tutors
We are in need of reading, math, and English as a Second Language (ESL) tutors. No experience is necessary and all materials and training are provided! Tutors are matched with a student (or small group of students) and meet with their student(s) for two hours twice each week. New tutor trainings are offered throughout the year.

Enrichment Instructors
Do you have a special talent or professional knowledge that you would like to share with our students? We are always enhancing the academic learning curriculum with guest speakers who provide one-day workshops on topics such as financial literacy, women's health, consumer affairs, environment, employment readiness, and college admissions.

Child Care Aides
If you love to be around babies or toddlers, we'd love to have you come in and lend a hand in one of our child care rooms. Aides are especially needed in the mornings; hours and days are flexible.

Gardening/Yard Help
Do you have a green thumb and a few hours a month to spend tidying up our grounds and trimming our hedges and lawn? We'd welcome your touch!

Office Aides
General administrative assistance is always needed to assist in the resource room and development office.

Facility Maintenance
Gardeners, carpenters, electricians, painters, and general handypersons are needed to help maintain the Center's welcoming environment.

Committee Members
Interested in sharing your profession or talent by serving on a special event, development, or finance committee? Meetings are held periodically at the Center.

Mercy's Pantry
Local organizations, church/synagogue groups, schools, and senior centers may "adopt" our new on-site food pantry and conduct a food drive of non-perishable items.

Mercy's Closet
Help is needed to restock racks and monitor shopping on a weekly basis.

If you are interested in any of the volunteer opportunities described above, please contact Sharon Sanford, Student Enrichment Coordinator.
